Stills

This is a collection of stills from the movie, reduced from the original 2K to 1K. At the bottom of this page are two stills of the RRU ship, they're the only two shots that I have of it.

This is the Shuttle on its way to the mining colony.

Okay, okay. So we matched the stage-shot physical models blah blah blah. Right. In this shot the Shuttle is CG and the Nightingale (the main ship, from which the Shuttle is emerging) is real and was shot with a camera, on the stages. I think they match up pretty well... no?

This is a section cut from a full resolution image from just a few frames before the one above. What's very clear in this image is just how much we were making the CG match the way the physicals were lit. If you look closely you can see the RRU on the underside of the Shuttle.

This run of four stills is from the section of the film just before the Tug is "caught" by the Nightingale (-shudder-).

Oooh... pretty...

This is very possibly not a final composite as the dark side of the planet is actually darker than space, which looks a bit odd... A lot of the other shots on this page are probably not final comps too (I don't know!)

CG everything...

Aha! Now, this is one of only two shots that I have of the third ship I built for Supernova; the RRU. Unfortunately neither of these two stills offers a particularly good view of the ship. oh well...

The RRU about to dock. In the film "RRU" stands for Rescue and Recovery Unit. I did try to point out that it's a one man vehicle that's about the size of a coffin and as it requires a pilot then it wouldn't be much use for rescuing anything bigger than a small rodent and therefore its name is silly but... nobody would listen. Still, what do I know...
